Water is the single most important issue in our State. We have wonderful water here in Placer county and we need to protect it and preserve it for our own use. While many will say we need to sell more water I say we need to save our water for fire protection, agriculture, municipal and residential use. Any proposed solution to California's water supply and water quality problems must be designed and carried out within the context of existing protections to the upstream source areas (our areas of origin). The legislature and administration of these key statutory protections is not discretionary in my mind, but rather a necessary, element to consider within the context of any proposed San Francisco Bay Delta solution. We must always be mindful of the "water grab" that can take place when we are not looking. We must be vigilant and thoughtful in our efforts to protect our water resources.
