Grammar schools must lay a firm foundation for higher education and life-long learning.
My top priority is to provide our children with the highest standards of academic excellence. To me, a strong grammar school is one that includes a firm foundation in reading, writing, and arithmetic, while not neglecting character building, the arts, music, physical education, hands-on science experimentation, history exploration, and the use of technology in the classroom. The ultimate goal of a quality education is to produce a generation of students with the ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and become healthy, responsible citizens of a global community. At the grammar school level there should be a strong focus on building a firm foundation to prepare them for the higher level thinking skills in Junior High and High School. Providing a wide variety of both academic and non-academic activity helps our children to discover their natural talents and gifts, so that at the high school and college levels they can perfect those areas of strength and use their skills to benefit society. We, as educators, must lead by example in our love for learning and respect for diversity and individual differences in all human beings.
