Council Member; City of Huntington Beach

Jim believes a strong Public Safety must be the top priority for a city to be a safe place to live, work, and play. Huntington Beach Police, Fire, and Marine Safety Departments must be provided with the necessary tools and up-to-date technology to keep the city and beaches safe.

Jim believes in a cost-conscious and transparent government. Jim believes in a balanced budget with No New Taxes. Other cities have filed bankruptcy and still are struggling to meet their budget needs. Jim will work hard so that Huntington Beach will not be a victim to these challenging times.

Transparency in government and easy access to public records will help eliminate negative surprises to citizens and encourage fiscal responsibility in the government. Huntington Beach citizens must have easy access to public records and the right to voice their views before an open and responsive City Council because now, more than ever, good government needs the participation of honest, informed, and involved citizens.

Managed growth will allow Huntington Beach to have sound and effective land use planning that ensures good traffic movement, necessary infrastructure, and new developments that are compatible with the surrounding community. City Council must guard against growing too fast and authorizing excessive high-density housing.

Economic development is necessary to provide badly needed jobs, new retail opportunities for customers, land for industrial development to meet the needs of the community, and new revenues sources for city services thereby eliminating the need to raise taxes.

Having been a public servant for the past 34 years, it is second nature for Jim to volunteer his time to causes he believes in. His experience, knowledge and passion to serve our community, his deep commitment to educating himself on issues facing our community, and assist in getting them resolved makes him the perfect candidate for City Council.
