Demi Devaney holds a Master Degree in Public Administration, a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and a Paralegal Degree in Corporation Law. She is a Realtor for Mar vista 21 and Home Retention Consultant for Titanium Inc. that service Bank of America, HUD, Wells Fargo and Wachovia. She is an active member of Downey Board of Realtors, CAR, NAR and Asian Realtor of Asian American. She is one of the RE Advisory Board for Cerritos College and was one of the former Grievance Director of Downey Board of Realtors. She was also a former City of Cypress Senior Citizen Commissioner and Advisory on the Senior Non Emergency Transportation programs on Office on Aging. Her background includes Instructor on Real Estate for residential and business transactions, Corporate Executive for Residential Care Facilities, ICF for Disabled home care, Director for Domestic Care Agency and was a Managing Director for Home Equity Lending Company. Also as an Administrator/Paralegal for Law firms, former Publisher, former News reporter, Secretary and a business owner. Most of all she is a loving and dedicated mother of three children and has live an exciting life throughout the years. Her first job was a night shift cash register at the age of 12 in their restaurants while in school. Her Dad pass away early so she maintains two to three jobs at the same time. She was her family's head of the household although she was the fourth siblings to the youngest in the family of ten. She put herself and her younger brother and sisters to college while supporting her whole family. Her dad, uncle, brother and sisters were former police officers. Ms. Devaney is running for a seat on the City Council because she lives in Los Alamitos. Her son graduated from Los Alamitos High School and has two (2) girls in high school. Demi believes that citizen or community involvement and participation in city affairs is crucial to the well being and economic prosperity of the city. She believes that the government role is to its people. The frustrations range from officials being elected and they forget what they promise to do for their constituents. She said her role is the for the people of Los Alamitos, what they believe should be accomplish & what needs to be done. She would like to see some changes, prosperity, youth programs, new developments, and new projects while welcoming small and large business owners. She would recommend adopting new technology and trainings. Create incentives and coordinate with banks and non- profit organizations in providing help with small business developments. She also said we need education to prosper, school should always be funded but make sure there is a regulatory board seeing the check and balance on its budget. We have a great school & great board of directors and that has to continue. Public safety is a must which goes hand in hand with public safety programs, and awareness. She would like to see homeownership programs and homeownership retention programs that are available and can be attainable through our City. In real estate lending, she would be working with federal and state issues in proposing some legislations. She has suggested some measures regarding qualifying a buyer on a loan and on closing escrow. She wants a lender representative to explain to buyer the loan documents they are signing so they would fully understand the kind of loan they would have and be aware of their responsibility. In this way, she said consumers are protected and will also help in stabilizing our housing market. Demi would also be looking into sustaining jobs, public safety and supporting the small and large business industries. She will be looking to coordinate with Non-profit organization & Educators for Senior high school students that will lead them to be successful in their endeavor for a better life while choosing the right school for college. Her sales expertise, volunteer experiences, listening skills, legal background, education and the ability to listen and mingle with different race on different settings of behavior is a Great Asset for A GREAT LEADER. She hopes to be your Next Council member for Los Alamitos. |
