Building a Strong CommunityBy Ross ChunCandidate for Council Member; City of Aliso Viejo | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Our community is made up of many groups, and each has its unique needs. Our community is made up of residents, business entities, educational institutions and those who seek recreational outlets. Our city must work to address the needs of all groups, and encourage participation and growth in all to build a strong community. Our residents are burdened with high unemployment, business failures and a wide range of social issues. Our city must do everything it can to keep taxes and other expenses low, and work toward a fun, active and social community that encourages interaction and positive growth. Businesses flourish in a booming economy, but the current state of our country does not seem to be changing as fast as we need to feel secure in our jobs, our homes and our financial circumstances. Our city must encourage business growth and success. Our school district is facing a financial crisis, and the parents, students, teachers and administrators have an incredible challenge before them. These are also people who make up our community. Our city council should be engaged in these educational matters so they have an understanding of the challenges in our educational system. Recreational activities are often the most viable and effective way of offsetting the effects of the daily challenges our community faces. Our city must work with and cooperate with organizations in Aliso Viejo who can continue to provide the exciting and healthful recreational activities that have kept our citizens energized and engaged for more than 2 decades. |
