Placerville, this historic, charming foothill town I have called home for over 32 years. Throughout my life here, as a business owner, community activist, and planning commissioner, mother and now grandmother, I have had the pleasure of working with many of you who have made a difference in our community. Together we have planted flowers, held fundraisers, hosted forums and lobbied for and against change, working hard to build bridges and common ground. We have been colleagues in many diverse groups: Placerville Planning Commission, Placerville Downtown Association, Placerville Community Pride, Placerville Area Convergence Team, Placerville Revitalization Committee, Stagecoach Restoration Group. Sierra Business Council, El Dorado Landscape Business Association, and numerous others. The birth of my grandson, Tristan has brought a new passion into my life. He reminds me how passionately I believe in making sure we provide a city that is healthy and thriving, where our youth are safe and secure, nurtured by a community that cares about them and their future. This is at the heart of my decision to run for a seat on the Placerville City Council in 2012. I love this City. I believe my experiences will help guide us into the future. I believe in a responsive government. I believe we should listen more and talk less. I believe in strength through cooperation rather than resistance. I believe in enhancing our future while honoring our past. This community deserves a council that respects the citizens, respects the staff and works hard to build understanding and consensus. This is fundamental to why I am running. Numerous citizens have come forward expressing confidence in my ability to be an effective member of the Placerville City Council. I hope to have yours. |
