Political Philosophy for Arne Simonsen
Candidate for |
The first place residents go for information is the City Clerk's office. I served 8 years on the Antioch City Council, chaired the Delta Protection Commission, chaired the League of California Cities Revenue & Taxation Policy Committee, and graduated from the Mayors and Council Members Academy. I have the experience and background to ensure that requests for information are provided to residents in a timely manner. Knowledge is power. Making it easier for residents to look up information on the City's website will be one of my primary goals. Reams of materials from prior decades still need to be scanned and made available to the public to help understand how previous councils and staff actions affect what the city council does today. I would make it easier to find other important documents like the Antioch Municipal Code, General Plan, 5-year Capital Improvement Program and the Zoning Ordinance. I would ensure that annotated agendas with voting results are made available after each and every meeting of the city council, its boards and commissions so that residents will know how those bodies voted on agenda items. The residents need a City Clerk who knows how the city works and I am that candidate. I have a Bachelor in Science degree from the University of the State of New York and retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer. If you have any questions, please contact me at arne@arnesimonsen.com. Please vote Arne Simonsen for City Clerk on November 6th. |
