My name is: Kish Rajan My age is: 42 My occupation is: Mayor Pro Tem/Technology Business Consultant Education and Qualifications: In 2008 I ran for Walnut Creek City Council to give back to my hometown and to build a brighter future for my young family and all Walnut Creek families. Four years of service has only deepened my resolve to advance our special quality of life. I seek reelection to build on my accomplishments and to work even harder to keep Walnut Creek strong. A strong Walnut Creek means preserving the balance among fiscal discipline, economic vitality, healthy and secure neighborhoods, excellent schools, improved traffic and parking, vibrant arts and cultural pursuits. In my first term, I have led in each of these areas. In brutal economic times, we balanced our budgets by tightening our belt: comprehensive pension reform, salary freezes and staff cuts. I will maintain that discipline and drive for positive economic growth to create local jobs and increase revenue to support city needs. I put our neighborhoods first and prioritized investments that provide for their health and security. I worked for a high quality police department that has the resources necessary to keep our neighborhoods safe. I fought to improve city parks, sports fields and pools. And I led the local effort to invest in modernizing our local schools to improve our kids' education. I led the Downtown Parking Task Force, with the driver and the pedestrian in mind, to make more parking available when and where you need it, and to reduce downtown traffic. In each of these areas, we have accomplished a lot and yet have much more to do. I have been privileged to help lead the charge. And if you honor me with your vote again, I pledge to work even harder to move Walnut Creek forward in a way that honors our past and builds an even brighter future.
