- EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE
-
Since my first term in 2000, the District has made incredible strides in improving the educational environment for our students. Although we are now one of the highest rated school districts in California, we can still do better. Click on "EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE" heading to see my detailed proposals on our journey to even higher levels of educational excellence.
- CONTINUED STRONG FINANCIAL CONTROLS
-
When I first got on the Board, I was faced with numerous budget and financial issues that resulted from a history of poor budget controls and scarce reserves. Since then, I have helped establish a strong culture in the District of budget controls, conservative financial practices and solid financial reserves. Click on the "CONTINUED STRONG FINANCIAL CONTROLS" heading to see my detailed proposals on dealing with the continuing financial crisis in public education.
- SCHOOL FACILITIES AND GROWING ENROLLMENT
-
The District's facilities program was under Grand Jury review when I was elected in 2000. I helped lead an effort to change the way the District handled school facility modernization/repair programs, saving millions of dollars. Even with nine new schools, students are still coming in record numbers, with approximately 31,000+ students. Click on the "SCHOOL FACILITIES AND GROWING ENROLLMENT" heading to see my detailed proposals on dealing with massive student growth and facilities projects.
