My name is: Carol Longshore My age is: 67 My occupation is: Self-employed therapist; holistic instructor of posture Education and Qualifications: After graduating from Mt. Diablo High School class of 1963, where I served as Student Body Vice President, I attended Diablo Valley College, married, and raised four children. Inspired by President John F. Kennedy's "Ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country" challenge, I turned my energies to volunteerism and community service. I became involved with Social Advocates for Youth, a non-profit organization helping disadvantaged students, and was PTA President of Westwood Elementary. I am proud of my accomplishment of coordinating the building of a ball wall for the playground and finishing a public sidewalk leading to the school. Later, I worked on the "Concord Makes Cents" program developed by PG&E and the City of Concord. At the recommendation of former Mayor June Bulman I ran for City Council and have been involved and observant ever since. I chaired the two-day centennial celebration for Mt. Diablo High School and cofounded the Mt. Diablo High School Sports Hall of Fame. I was on the Hall of Fame Board until leaving to serve on the Concord Historical Society's Board of Directors and am currently involved in planning social events and fund raising activities for the Society's two museum projects. I studied for three years to receive my F. M. Alexander Technique teaching credential from the State of California and have provided training in posture and ergonomics across the County. I later returned to school to receive my certification as an Ayurveda Therapist. With a heart and experience for Concord, I ask for your vote. |
