Official Statement for Barry Grove

|
My name is: Barry Grove My age is: 49 My occupation is: Deputy District Attorney For Contra Costa County Education and Qualifications: For twenty years I have fought to keep our County safe by serving as a Contra Costa criminal prosecutor. For years I have brought to justice the most violent offenders, but now I want to take the strength of my convictions and belief in doing what is right to serve my hometown, Walnut Creek. As a prosecutor, I have had the honor of being elected President of the Contra Costa District Attorney Association. As a result, I have expertise in both law enforcement and the government budget process. I understand how to balance competing interests, build consensus, use common sense, and, most important, listen more than talk. We do not need new taxes. Walnut Creek already has a large revenue stream. We must better mange the money we have and live within our means. Public safety is a priority because government's most important role is keeping us safe. We are operating with a skeleton police department and must have staffing levels that match our population needs. We need an independent minded city council that will make responsible decisions and balance growth with the character of our city. We should save our arts and recreation programs in this difficult time, but we must explore creative opportunities like public/private partnerships. With your help, we can keep Walnut Creek the jewel of the East Bay it has always been and that I have proudly served. Endorsed by Walnut Creek Police Officers Association and retired District Attorney Gary Yancey. |
