I am interested in this City Counsel position purely because I believe in "giving back" to one's community. For this reason, I have accepted no campaign contributions. I have worked in various public service capacities throughout my 34- year career. Most recently at the state level, I was responsible for policies that assisted Local Education Agencies with the appropriate consolidation of their budgets so that they could and utilize their limited dollars effectively and efficiently. In particular, my area of expertise is with assisting entities in targeting and allocating their monetary and physical resources in a manner appropriate to their needs and consistent with their legal obligations. I hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of the Pacific, an undergraduate degree from CAL and received my Master's Degree from Cal State East Bay. My husband and I have lived in Orinda for 32 years. I have a long history of Orinda civic involvement and have served on Orinda's EFO Board, the Glorietta and OIS Parents' Club Boards, and proudly founded Orinda's first Girl Scout Daisy Troop. In addition, I have spent significant volunteer hours devoted to Meadow Swim Team. Over the years I have developed a great understanding of the culture and needs of the Orinda community. In addition, I have developed a significant understanding and respect for the level of talent and collective knowledge inherently embedded in this unique community. |
