|
My name is: Marnie Sheehan Carter My age is: My occupation is: Paralegal/Legal Educator/Business Manager Education and Qualifications: To lead a community you must first understand it. As a native member of the Concord community, my family has been involved since my grandfather, James H. Sheehan, served as Mayor of our City. I understand Concord having been born here, raised here, graduating from Carondelet High School and residing here with my own family for the past ten years. Concord needs a councilmember who understands the requirements and demands of constituent service work and who is willing to spend the time working with residents, businesses and organizations during a time of tremendous challenge. As a former volunteer member of community police and retired member of the Armed Forces, my background demonstrates that I have consistently followed through on this commitment. I have spent many hours volunteering with organizations which serve children. Through this service, I have observed first-hand the positive and adverse effects of policy decisions made at the local, state and federal levels. Our city requires elected officials who understand the needs of our community and who are willing to forcefully advocate for those who live here. Our city also requires leaders who are committed to support our local economy, businesses, schools and families as we continue to experience the effects of reduced revenues and budget cuts. As a business manager and legal educator, I have made difficult decisions in order to achieve results. As a parent of five children and 6th generation Californian, I understand the need to encourage continued economic development in order to continue to remain a viable place of employment. I have the experience, knowledge and motivation to provide the necessary representation and leadership that is required of local officials in these challenging times. I pledge to remain committed to Concord and ask for your support. Carter for Concord. Carter for City Council. |
