My name is: Mike Anderson My age is: 59 My occupation is: Park District, Manager Education and Qualifications: During my eight years of service on the Lafayette City Council, it has been an honor to work with the residents of our remarkable city. I have been inspired by the creativity and scholarship of our youth, and educated by the time-tested knowledge of our seniors. As a Cal Berkeley '77 graduate trained in Landscape Architecture, my appointment to the Lafayette Planning Commission in 2001 provided me with a very clear understanding of the planning philosophy that protects the qualities of our semi-rural community. With your vote, I will be able to continue to advance my goals for Lafayette, which have consistently been to: exercise prudent fiscal management, protect the small businesses that make our city unique, protect our neighborhoods from development out of character with the community, manage our traffic while creating an attractive downtown, repair our roads and infrastructure, and create housing and services for seniors. Career: Assistant General Manager, Planning/Stewardship & Development, East Bay Regional Park District. I administer over $100 million in capital improvement projects; direct the planning for the 112,000-acre District, and manage programs for the stewardship of natural and cultural resources. I have worked for the Park District for 31 years. Community: First elected to the City Council in 2004, served as Mayor in 2007, re-elected in 2008. Chair of the Planning Commission in 2003, appointed to the commission in 2001. Member of the Lafayette General Plan Advisory Committee 1993 to 2003. I have lived in Lafayette with my wife, Courtney, for twenty-one years. |
