CANDIDATE AND CAMPAIGN INFORMATIONBACKGROUND I am a former (retired) BART employee with over 36 years of experience. I served as Local 790 (now Local 1021) vice president, and contributed in the negotiation of 7 contracts. My priorities as Director for District 5 will be to ensure that BART remains focused on safety and affordability for low-income and student riders; support cost effective route extensions, such as service to Livermore; and work to ensure that service equipment, BART cars, maintenance equipment, and BART station environment, pass strict quality and safety controls. . I have a unique opportunity to contribute to the sound growth of BART while keeping the public's interest paramount in all issues.
FIRST FOCUS
SAFETY
BART GROWTH
BART extensions to Livermore and San Jose are to be expected. Communities are growing and there is no doubt that people will want the current level of service + or better. Therefore expansions into new communities should be done with all system engineering practices that are applied to all complex technical systems. I also see my role to make myself known to Alameda County Transportation Commission personnel and define my position as a constructive partner.
TAXES
BART ENVIRONMENT
I will make my office available for any of your concerns, and I will respond directly to your issues presented to me.
