Kim Spina has done a fine job for Modesto City Schools. She is knowledgeable about what children need to learn to be successful, not just in the United States but also in the world. During the four years that Kim Spina has served as a trustee on the Modesto City Schools Board, she has demonstrated an innovative approach to improving the educational opportunities of nearly 30,000 students. Specifically, she has been the driving force behind the establishment of the Dual Language Program, which allows students to receive instruction in Spanish and English, beginning in kindergarten. In addition, Kim has been a strong proponent of the Language Institute, an English-intensive program for secondary students. An after school program, which exposes elementary students to the Chinese language and culture and a Japanese exchange program are also among the unique programs Kim has supported. Kim has proven herself an educational leader in Modesto who will bring her energy and vision to the County Board of Education.
