Candidate for
Board Member; Sylvan Union School District

Throughout junior high and high school I participated in many academic and athletic activities. I was involved in baseball, basketball, football, wrestling and track and field. These opportunities provided enrichment that benefited myself and many of my teammates. I feel the same about music and art. I am very passionate about preserving programs we have and returning those lost to budget cuts. I will pursue solutions which will return our school district to the excellence we once enjoyed in these areas.

Upon graduating college and after a brief stint as a substitute teacher, I pursued a career in the fire service. I have been a professional firefighter for 17 years. I started in the City of Santa Cruz Fire Department in 1994. In 2001 my wife and I decided to return to the Modesto Area and raise our family. For the past 10 years I have been employed with the Modesto Fire Department. I am a Fire Engineer, the guy who drives the big red fire engine.

I am the proud parent of three wonderful children: Hanna, Hayley and Zachary. They all attend Sylvan Schools in 7th, 5th and 2nd grades. We enjoy supporting their academic needs and the extracurricular activities they participate in. They are involved in baseball, basketball, dance, soccer, swimming and track and field. My daughters also enjoy music. Hanna plays the violin. Hayley plays the violin and cello.

I follow my children from activity to activity. It gives me an opportunity to practice my amateur photography and cinematography skills. Family barbecues and vacations are more ways we enjoy spending time together. We have a boxer, Zoe, and she is part of the family. My wife Amy and I have been happily married for 17 years.
