Shall the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District adopt Ordinance No. 2011/12-1 retaining its increased limits on appropriations to assure continued fire, rescue and emergency medical services?

Arguments For Measure B
To assure that the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District continues its current level of paramedic, fire, and rescue services vote Yes on Measure B.

If Measure B passes it will allow the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District to continue spending tax revenues generated by our special tax. This will allow the District to continue services at current levels.

A Yes vote will not create new taxes. A Yes vote will not increase taxes beyond what is now authorized. A Yes vote will allow the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District to continue services at current levels.

Full Text of Measure B
The Board of Directors of the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District ("District") do ordain as follows:

SECTION I. PURPOSE AND INTENT. It is the purpose and intent of this ordinance to authorize an increase of the appropriations limit of the District for the provision of ambulance and fire services. Such increase shall be applicable for a period of four years. The revenues appropriated pursuant to this increase are to be used solely for the purposes of obtaining, furnishing, operating and maintaining ambulance and fire suppression equipment and apparatus, and for other necessary fire and life safety services and expenses of the District.

SECTION II. APPROPRIATIONS LIMIT. The appropriations limit for the District shall be increased for the maximum period permitted by law (four years) to allow for the use of all proceeds raised by the District's special tax.

SECTION III. LIMITED AMENDMENT. If any section of this ordinance or portion thereof is held invalid or unenforceable by any court and such judgment becomes final, then that section may be amended by the District's Board by a majority vote to conform with the judgment of such court, provided that such amendment is consistent with the purpose and intent of this ordinance. Provisions of this ordinance relating to procedures may only be amended by ordinance.

SECTION IV. SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance is for any reason held to be unconstitutional and invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portion of this ordinance. The people of the Bodega Bay Fire Protection District hereby declare that they would have passed this ordinance and every section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase thereof, irrespective of the fact that any one or more sections, subsections, sentences, clauses or phrases be declared unconstitutional or invalid.

SECTION V. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take effect the day following its approval by a simple majority of theDistrict's qualified voters voting on its approval at the special election on November 8, 2011.
