Who is Jerry Peters ?By Jerry PetersCandidate for Director; Novato Sanitary District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Jerry Peters is a former Novato Planning Commission member and a long time civic volunteer who is running for one of two open seats in the five person race for the Novato Sanitary District Board of Directors. A 35-year Novato resident, Jerry says "The Novato Sanitary District has made great strides recently, but we need to be working to exceed our environmental requirements, improve our facilities management, while still keeping our rates the lowest in the county." Recently retired from a 20 years plus stint in facilities management, Jerry says "the board needs to complete the startup of the new waste water treatment facility and move on to planning the update and repair of the district-wide waste water collection system." Jerry works to make Novato a great place to live. He is a co-founder and the current chairman of the Novato 4th of July Parade Committee, now in its 20th year. He also founded the Novato Save-the-Depot Task Force. He is a Past-President of the Novato Chamber of Commerce, and has been a Chamber Board Member for 13 of the past 14 years. Jerry has worked tirelessly with many local government groups as a co-chair of the Chamber Government Affairs Committee. His other projects include the Novato Art & Wine Festival, Leadership Novato, the City Birthday Party, and many other committees and community events. Jerry was honored as Citizen of the Year in 2007 by fellow citizens and City, County and State representatives for his many community contributions. The Novato Sanitary District has invested over $90 million in its new state-of-the-art water treatment plant, one of the largest public investments ever made in the North Bay. The financing and operation of this facility needs close, experienced attention to safe guard our investment for Novato and continue its effective operation for a long time to come. Jerry has the management and facilities background to work with the NSD Board and staff. His years of experience on community boards, commissions, and committees have demonstrated his ability to work with almost everyone and get the job done. What is a "A Cleaner Path" and What's with the Stripes? In Facilities Management, OSHA codes requires various floor marking guides using color striped tapes to mark locations or passageways. For example, black/yellow tapes mark hazards that might cause tripping or falling. Black/white tapes outline safe stairways and traffic aisles. Jerry uses black/white stripes on his campaign signs, badges, to show a cleaner path to safe, efficient and effective waste water operations. He wants to use his facilities management experience to ensure NSD is on a clear and clean path for a long, safe life for its new facility. MORE QUESTIONS??
