New School Construction While School Sites Remain VacantBy Charles Mike McElfreshCandidate for Governing Board Member; Palmdale School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The District is building a new school on the westside while three schools on eastside are vacant. The presiding Board voted to build a new school on the Westside of the District. With declining enrollment and three school sites vacant, does the District need to place a burden of additional taxes on the constituents? To resolve this issue the District can creatively rezone the school site boundaries. It was two years ago the District rezoned two of these boundaries to move the students westward, thus falsely creating overcrowding conditions. As a Board, they should all be aware that overall District enrollment is declining. |
