More Jobs and a Stronger EconomyBy Rosemary M. BrownCandidate for State Representative; District 189 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
I know nothing is more important to our families than being able to secure good-paying jobs. That's why I will make economic growth and job creation a top priority in Harrisburg-and use my experience as a businesswoman to make sure it happens.Invest in Job Creators: Small Business and Manufacturers Instead of spending tens of millions of dollars on stadiums and pork barrel projects, I will push to use that money on wise investments in job creation. That means supporting the small businesses and entrepreneurs who drive our economy. It also means using that money to re-invigorate our manufacturing sector-because a strong manufacturing sector means new jobs for our families and new products to sell and grow our economy. Make Pennsylvania Competitive Pennsylvania's business taxes are among the highest in the nation. Government bureaucracies and red tape make it harder-instead of easier-for businesses to grow and expand. Quite simply, Pennsylvania drives job creators away. We must make Pennsylvania's business tax and regulatory structure competitive with other states to stop employers from leaving and encourage new employers to settle here. Secure Tomorrow's Jobs...Today I know that while we can work to help our traditional industries rebound, we must also be looking to the future. That's why I will work to invest in the new technologies, new manufacturing industries and "green jobs" of tomorrow to bring them to our area and provide the jobs our families need. Safe, Responsible Growth of Natural Gas Industry The recent surge in activities in the Marcellus Shale natural gas reserve has the potential to positively transform our economy. I will work to insure safe and responsible growth of the natural gas industry in Pennsylvania-so we can realize its fullest potential in terms of job creation and economic growth. |
