Congressman George Miller is a recognized leader on education, labor, and the environment. He has a long record of legislative achievements creating good jobs, making college more affordable and improving public school education. He has fought against insurance companies and won -- to make health care more affordable and accessible. He helped restore accountability to big banks and credit card companies on behalf of consumers. And he has always worked to enact public policies that also protect the taxpayer. He was an early opponent of the war in Iraq and he opposes further escalation of the war in Afghanistan. George Miller fought for and won protections of the Bay Delta to ensure its long-term survival and to guarantee equitable sharing of California's precious fresh water. George is also a strong defender of the rights of women. In fact, the first bill signed into law by president Obama was written by George Miller -- The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to strengthen a working woman's right to fight pay discrimination.
