As Californians, we've had historic challenges to take on in the past few years + and many still exist. As your representative in the California State Assembly, I've worked to face them head-on while focusing on the values we share. Reducing our investment in public education is simply short-sighted, limiting future opportunity for our most important asset, our children. I will continue to work with local education leaders and those in Sacramento to find commonsense solutions to our budget crisis. I also will work to protect the Delta. It is one of our most valuable resources and critical to Northern California water supply and infrastructure delivery. Finally, creating jobs and protecting small businesses must be a top priority because job growth is critical to our economic recovery.

I do not believe in business in usual. I believe we must refocus on the fundamental elements of governing. That is why I've co-authored a bill with fellow Democrats and Republicans to implement Performance Based Budgeting. It is needed to right our financial ship, spending every penny wisely and focusing our limited resources on the programs and services we value.

I appreciate your support and ask you to allow me to continue to work for you in Sacramento.
