Lynette Sweet is a native San Franciscan, born and raised in District 10 where she attended E.R. Taylor elementary and Lowell High School. Lynette attended the University of California, Berkeley receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology. While there, Lynette's banking career began and continued for the next twenty-two years. She has been an officer of Crocker Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Barclays Bank, Bank of America and Union Bank of California all focused on building small businesses in the District 10 community. While working as the Vice President and Manager of Union Bank of California in Bayview Hunters Point, she became very active in community related causes. Through her efforts, Union Bank of California began a yearly donation program specifically for Bayview Hunters Point. Lynette was appointed to the San Francisco Redevelopment Commission in 1996 and was elected its chairperson in 1998. In 2000 she was appointed to the San Francisco Taxi Commission and then elected to the Commission's presidency in 2001. Lynette was elected as a member of the BART Board of Director in 2004 and 2008 after initially being appointed in 2003. As Director, Lynette has represented the only BART District that covers a diverse group of riders spanning three major Bay Area counties, including San Francisco. Lynette currently serves on the YMCA Board of Directors and on the Board of Directors of The Providence Foundation. In addition, Lynette is an avid sports fan, having had the privilege of working with many of her heroes including Barry Bonds and Jerry Rice when they played at Candlestick Park. When not serving the community, she can often be found watching a 49ers or Giant's game with her niece Kelah. |
