Jose has a proven record, as three-term elected Mayor, of transforming Milpitas into a great city with a great quality of life for all residents, a strong financial position, and a business friendly environment. His commitment to fiscal responsibility is based on protecting your tax dollar. Jose's great integrity, accountability, and innovative ideas are the reasons we need him as Mayor. He's the kind of honest and dedicated elected official we can trust.

What are Jose's major civic/community activities in which he has participated in the past few years and what is the nature of his participation and any offices he has held. He has held elected office as Mayor of Milpitas (2002 to present) and Councilmember (1998 to 2002), volunteer work as Milpitas Planning Commissioner, member of the Milpitas Community Advisory Commission, active participation at St Elizabeth and St John Catholic Churches in Milpitas, and membership in numerous civic and ethnic organizations in San Jose and Milpitas. He has always been an active member in any organization that he is involved with. Also, he is involved year around, not just at election time. This is recognized by his many supporters.

What distinguishes Jose from the other candidates the race for this office? Integrity. Jose is honest, he is not committed to special interests, and he believes in listening to people. Jose built a record of success as Mayor of Milpitas, making things happen and with measurable results: we have a new library, we have hundreds of new housing units (market and affordable), we have a new senior center, we have a very safe city, and we have a great quality of life. Also he is very accessible to residents and is actively engaged in numerous public events in Milpitas. As a result, many people in diverse communities know him and know what he does and will do. Finally, all the candidates have ideas on how to do the City's functions better; so does he. With his strong commitment to fiscal responsibility and his deep interest in maximizing services effectively for all City residents, he will do a far better job as our Mayor. Jose is not supported by or committed to special interests. His campaign is volunteer-based. There are no paid consultants or high priced advisors in his campaign.
