I would appreciate your vote of confidence in November and look forward to serving my 4th term on the Black Oak Mine Unified School District. My name is Darcy Knight and I am running for my 4th term in office as a School Board Trustee in Black Oak Mine Unified School District. I am currently finishing my 10th year in office and would be honored to continue in this capacity. My husband and I moved our family to the area 17 years ago to have a better quality life and education for our family. We researched the area and decided on the community in Garden Valley. While both my husband and I communte over 100 miles a day, we have never regretted the enviornment we chose for our children to grow up in. All three of our boys have been educated, kindergarten through high school, in the Black Oak Mine Unified School District. Our oldest son Michael is currently finishing his Civil Engineering degree at CSU, San Diego; our middle son Chris is a junior at CSU, Sacramento pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, and our youngest son Alex is an 11th grader at Golden Sierra High School. We have exemplary, award winning schools in BOMUSD with incredible, talented educators instructing our students. I have felt privledged to be a part of overseeing the operations in our district and working with a very talented group of administrators. Currently we are in the midst of very difficult economic times and are challenged with maintaining fiscal solvency while delivering a quality education that does it's best to keep the budget issues away from the students in the classroom. I was in office before the crisis started and have watched systematic cuts chip away at the programs and staff we feel are vital to the operation of our district. If the voters allow me, I would like to be a part of the economic recovery which I believe is in the near future. I would also be honored to be a part of the completion of our Measure G construction projects throughout the district, as I have been on board before and during the passage of the bond. I believe my tenure on the BOMUSD Board of Trustees is valuable as is my background in Education. I keep current with policy issues in Sacramento that affect our schools and have input in two very important committees that are responsible for bringing small district issues to the forefront. I would appreciate your vote of confidence this November and will honor the office and my committment to it. |
