Town of Dbay Cmty Svcs Director; Town of Discovery Bay Community Services District

Brian Dawson was born in Fresno, California and grew up in Carmel. Brian first became interested in his community while helping neighbors clean up after the Carmel River flooded the area. After this early experience Brian sought out ways to serve the people around him, tutoring kids in urban Los Angeles and volunteering at a nearby woman's shelter. After learning the value of investing in his community, Brian spent his early adult life working in the private sector and living in Discovery Bay.

Brian met his wife, Jessica, while traveling in Florida. After a brief courtship they were married and settled down in Florida to raise their family. During the time he spent there with his wife and children, he again saw the need to become involved in improving the world around him, this time taking an interest in local politics. He helped a local veterans group to cut through the bureaucracy and get a Memorial Day commemoration placed in the downtown square of St. Augustine, Florida and offered his time to candidates he believed could make a difference. He saw how knowledge of, and commitment to, campaigns and local issues could play an important role in improving the lives of his fellow citizens and making a better place for him to raise his children. In his free time Brian volunteered at his daughter's school and coached her softball team.

After several years in Florida, Brian wanted to be closer to his extended family and so moved back to Discovery Bay. After helping Jessica and the kids settle in, he started looking for ways that he could make the community around him better. He became Treasurer of the PTA at his eldest daughter's elementary school, and became active in the CSD Board, eventually being nominated for an open seat last year. Since then he has worked tirelessly with his fellow Directors to find solutions to some of the problems facing the district.

Currently, Brian is a stay-at-home father to his two girls, the oldest of whom attends Discovery Bay Elementary. He is currently asking for your vote to retain the seat he was appointed to, and to keep doing the hard work that the people of Discovery Bay deserve.
