Smart Voter Full Biography for James F. Hiramoto

Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Proposed Lammersville Joint Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate

Hi! I'm James Hiramoto

My wife, Rebecca, and I have been married for almost 6 years and are the parents of a set of amazing twins. Our children are looking forward to starting school in our district's newest K-8 school, Questa. My wife and I have lived all over the Bay Area individually and together for over 25 years, and we moved to Mountain House in November of 2006. We love it here! Sorry I don't have any poster up around the community. I do have a ton of pens so if you'd like one PM me or catch me out and about at the MHLL games. My son is playing T-ball.

Some widely & little known things about me:

I was the Red Robin Mascot in the late 80's in the Greater Bay Area.

I am a published poet & photographer.

I play several musical instruments (I don't claim to do it well).

I am pretty good in the kitchen.

I am a good Trivial Pursuit teammate.

I believe my education, experience, and expertise spanning over 15 years in public education (pre Kinder to-high school and counting) speaks for itself (see below). My career as a school and educational psychologist has been spent consulting with educators and administrators in meeting the educational, social, and behavioral needs of some of the most challenging children in our state. Also, I am a University Program Director and Professor and teach education at the Master's and Doctoral Level (going on 6 years).

As a current board member, I provide guidance on special education issues and best practices in education for all of our students. My knowledge of assessment and evaluation in research and statistics enables me to look critically at our CST, API and AYP results and provide feedback on areas to improve. Under my watch we have begun developing a comprehensive crisis intervention and prevention plan this academic year. I want to see this through. I, with our administrators, am writing a letter of intent and grant proposal to fund our efforts in this area as we will bring on additional areas to focus on as we Unify the district.

Thank you again for the opportunity to serve as a current board member. I would be honored to serve on the Joint Unified Board, but whether you choose to vote for me or not, please vote for Measure A. I have posted elsewhere on the merits of the Measure.

I look forward to any questions, so don't be shy about asking.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

James Hiramoto,

Candidate for Lammersville Joint Unified School District
