I am a lifelong Republican and a fiscal conservative who adheres to the tenet, "The bigger the government, the smaller the citizen." Last year, in June, 2009, I retired after a 42-year career in public education. My wife, Chalone, and I attended our first Tea Party on July 4, and flew to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Taxpayers' March on Washington on September 12. We then became Republican Precinct Captains for our neighborhood in San Clemente.
For the past 32 years I was a full-time professor at San Diego State University as the conductor of instrumental music, including the SDSU orchestra, wind symphony, and marching band. My experience with unions led me to work vigorously for the Citizen Power Campaign Initiative, and I pledge to continue those efforts in future elections. Using union dues for political purposes without the members' permission is immoral.
