I am running for re-election to the School Board because I believe that I have helped the district and community to move in the right direction over the past 3 years as a Trustee. I have been a staunch defender of small class sizes and early childhood education for all of our students. I have been a supporter of the district's efforts to close the achievement gap that exists for our Black/African-American and Hispanic/Latino students. I have been a participant in crafting 2 of the smallest budget to budget increases over the past 2 decades. I have worked tirelessly to give all of our students the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. As a member of the Board of Directors of the Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation, I have worked on both the annual trail race/walk as the course designer and director and on the annual Spring Gala. Through these efforts, the foundation has been able to provide over $350,000 in funding for projects in the schools to enhance all of our student's experiences. As a member of the Rotary Club of Ossining, I am currently a member of the Board of Directors, Vice President Elect, an Interact Club advisor at OHS and the Literacy Chair, responsible for our annual effort to give a dictionary to every 3rd grade student in the district and a thesaurus to every 5th grader, through the generosity of local businesses. I am also involved in Communities That Care and have actively supported their effort-2Young, 2Smart, 2Start- to reduce underage drinking and encourage good decision making. I have dedicated my entire life to our community, retiring from the Ossining Police Department as a Patrol Sergeant, and subsequently serving Ossining in many volunteer capacities.
