Political Philosophy for Tom King
Candidate for |
Leadership means making a difference. People are fed up with negative campaigns, partisanship and petty politics.
My philosophy is to be pragmatic. Three simple tenants govern my decisions. 1. Be an effective leader. 2. Have respect for other people's opinions 3. Follow the rules. I have worked hard to bring ethics and common sense to the Walnut City Council. I helped craft an ethics ordinance and I do not accept campaign contributions from contractors or others doing business with the City of Walnut. I never have, and I never will I established a conflict of interest policy for the City of Walnut, and follow it carefully. I have put "sweetheart" contracts out to bid, and lowered costs for Walnut residents. I do not attack my opponents, and run on my accomplishments. I have fought the introduction of marijuana dispensaries, and worked for limits on adult businesses in the City of Walnut. I have proposed an ordinance to limit the ability of two parolee's living together who are not married. Other communities may take a different view, and that is their right and their choice. Being a member of this City Council of this wonderful city has been one the highest honors of my life. |
