"It has been an honor to serve our Village as a Trustee for the past years and I hope to continue to serve for the next two years. I look forward to working on three key priorities 1. Fostering Pride in Elmsford in the coming year with our Village Centennial Celebration; 2. Maintaining a keen focus on our spending in these difficult times and 3. Continuing to look for efficiencies to improve our services at reduced costs."
Billy Zimkin Bill is a life long resident of the village and he attended the village grammar school. After graduation from high school, Bill left the village for four years to serve in the U.S. Navy Seabees in Vietnam, Alaska and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged from the Navy and is currently a member of the Veterans of Foreign War, the Vietnam Veterans of America and is a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans and The American Legion. Bill has served as a volunteer with the Elmsford Volunteer Fire Department for 43 years and is a Life Member of the Live Oak Engine Company. He has served as Chief of the Elmsford Fire Department, President of the Live Oak Engine Company, member of the Board of Directors of the Live Oak Engine Company and Councilman with the Elmsford Fire Department. Over the past forty years, he has also served the village in a number of other volunteer capacities including the Traffic and Safety Committee, the Board of Electrical Control, the Planning Board, the Planning Commission and the Zoning Board of Appeals. During his 10 years as a Trustee, he has served as liaison to Recycling, the Fire Department liaison and most recently serves as liaison to our intermunicipal development committee, the Board Representative to the Ardsley Library System and liaison to the Village Water Department. Bill has a record of accomplishments in all of his fields of responsibility + increased recycling, worked to improve recognition of our local volunteers, successfully fought Avalon's entry, helped find a cost effective solution to provide first class library services to the Village. Most recently he is proud of the results of his efforts in the Water Department + implementation of a new chlorination system and improvements made to the efficiency of our water distribution system. Bill proudly holds the position of Deputy Mayor and is looking foreword to celebrating Elmsford's 100th Anniversary Celebration. He is presently employed as an electrician with Michael Mazzeo Electrical Contracting Co. and is a proud member of the Electricians Union #3. |
