Sensible Fiscal Management

Fiscal Management is not simply about dollars and cents. It is about allocating the appropriate resources to get the job done on-time, under budget, and within specifications. Projects that cost the tax payers money must be well planned and well implemented, so that citizens can see the immediate value of the project and at the same time do not feel unduly burdened. In government as well as a global marketplace, strategic thinking is a must. One of the business models I promote is that an organization is most profitable when it empowers people to aspire to their fullest potential. Reinforce this with proper metrics and process improvements, and the model becomes economical and self-sustaining.

Technology, education, and public service are passions of mine. Independently, they are powerful. Combined, their power is unparalleled. Maintaining perspective is important, too. Government is not an end unto itself. It must be made to meet to the needs of people, not vice versa. Consequently, government is as much about people as it is about laws and regulations. Likewise, public office has as much to do with communication and citizen participation as it has to do with taxes and services.
