Political Philosophy for Michael Anthony Kellar
Candidate for |
||||
|
My family has lived in Springfield for over 14 years. During that time, my wife and I have always impressed on our children the importance of family; of giving back to the community; and in treating others with fairness and respect - even if we don't always agree with their positions.
When I look at the political landscape of Springfield, I am distressed by the lack of diversity in our elected representatives. We are not all of one political party; and it is very important that this political diversity be reflected in Springfield Township government. It is already happening in surrounding townships, and it is time for Springfield to make this important change as well.
There are good, decent, and capable individuals on both sides of the current political divide; but it is an unfortunate fact that that the current political leadership in Springfield ignores this fact. We must reach out to all voters - Republican, Democrat, and Independent - and let them know that their participation in the political system is not only appreciated, but vital for the proper workings of government.
We all live in Springfield, and we should all have the opportunity to participate in government and contribute to the common good. That is what why it is important for all of us to fight for that diversity - that fairness - where it is needed most. And that is why I am running for Commissioner of the 6th Ward; to ensure that fairness, balance, political diversity and accountability are reflected in our township government. |
