Leadership for Our Town In this year's election for Mayor and Borough Council, you will have the opportunity to elect a new council that can and will address the pressing needs of Media Borough. Local government faces many challenges today. Providing a full range of municipal services in a cost effective manner requires elected officials who have the desire and experience to make the decisions that impact our future. The Republican candidates for Mayor and Borough Council offer a diverse cross section of our community and are eager to serve you. Candidate for Mayor Pete Alyanakian running for mayor, brings over 10 years of council experience representing your needs and concerns. Under Pete's leadership, Media has twice been recognized as the "Cleanest Borough in PA" by Penn Future, an environmental advocacy group, and in 2007, was given the Governor's Award for Environmental Excellence for the "Solar Energy for Media" Initiative. In his other roles for Media Borough, Pete secured funding for the "Sidewalk Reimbursement Program", initiated beautification projects at the borough gateways and public spaces, advocated selling the old borough hall, and recommended all professional consultants be paid on a retainer basis. Candidates for Council Toni Lee Cavanagh DiMonte is an attorney with 14 years experience representing clients in zoning and municipal matters throughout Delaware County. Toni has served Delaware County as a public defender for over 5 years. In addition, Toni has served on the Chester Heights Borough Council and the Upper Providence Recreation Board. She is married and raising her family in our community.
Dan Costello has served the community as a member of the Borough Planning Commission since Rebecca Herbert is an Administrative Assistant who lives and works in the Borough. Rebecca serves the Media Historical Architectural Review Board, and volunteers for various non-profit organizations such as the Institute for the Advancement of Women in Law Enforcement and The Center Foundation. Rebecca is eager to serve and has the time needed to devote to the role as a council person. Tedman O'Hara is a long-time area resident with deep roots in the community. A Penncrest High School graduate and long-time affiliate of the Rose Tree Media School District, Tedman understands deeply the hometown community and the people and values it encompasses. Tedman has had extensive experience addressing the concerns of cities, towns, groups and communities. He understands the importance of strong infrastructure, safety, economic development and fiscal responsibility. With Your Support we will:
