If you went to college, you know what a student's needs are to be successful. If you have life experiences that can improve the student condition, then share your knowledge so others can benefit also. That's why you need to vote for me, Christopher Agrella, as your next Chaffey college board member.
I was both an academic student at UC Riverside and a vocational student at Rio Hondo college in the San Gabriel valley. I didn't achieve what I was looking for when I was at UCR, so I went back into the work force. A few years passed in low paying jobs and I decided to enroll in the apprenticeship program at Rio Hondo college. I became a certified union carpenter at the Pomona Local in four years of classroom and jobsite training. This college prepared me for a career that lasted over 22 years, in which time I built, then later inspected, both K-12 & community college jobsites. My student experiences had both good and sometimes disappointing results, and I don't want any Chaffey college students to have those mistakes happen to them. My grandfather had a plack in his garage that read "learn from the mistakes of others, you don't have time to do them all yourself". I feel I can apply these real life trials to this board position, so the Chaffey student body has less mistakes to overcome while getting their education fulfilled. I was on the Ontario Western little league board for three years, and as the buyer of this league, I cut out a lot of wasteful spending, especially with the "good ol' boys" club that existed when I took over. Our L.L. budget was over $35,000 in the late 70's, with 8 major & 6 minor league teams. I believe there must be some room for improvement at the Chaffey college level, considering it has a yearly budget of over $200 million dollars. As a site superintendent, I had several multi-million dollar projects and a host of $500,000 remodels, AND EVERY ONE WAS COMPLETED WITHIN CONTRACT BUDGETS, whether I built them or inspected them. This is the type of experience I will bring to the table for all of the student construction projects. After all, isn't that what this board is all about? THE STUDENTS AND THEIR CAMPUS? I also gained an enormous amount of input over the years from all sides of the faculty and staff at these school districts, from the maintenence crews to the teachers. I also had a lot of contact from these school boards and the administration staff, including much insight from the various superintendents of these districts. With all the years of these experiences, I feel I can really contribute to the greater benefit of not only the students of this college district, but to the staff and operations of the whole campus infrastucture as well.
BUT IN ORDER TO HAVE THE CHAFFEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE SYSTEM FLOURISH IN THESE HARSH ECONOMIC TIMES, YOU NEED TO VOTE FOR SOMEONE WHO WILL USE THEIR YEARS OF KNOWLEDGE AND APPLY IT TO THIS COLLEGE AND ITS' STUDENTS! YOU HAVE TO VOTE FOR ME, CHRISTOPHER AGRELLA, FOR YOUR NEXT COLLEGE BOARD MEMBER. Yours truly, Christopher Agrella
