In addition to being an active parent, my professional experience can contribute directly to the position of Trustee. I am a California Registered Geologist and have worked for the same environmental firm for the past 20 years. My responsibilities have included:
- Development and implementation of strategic plans
- Budget planning, implementation, and cost reductions as necessary
- Execution of project work; hiring, firing, and implementation of all human resource policies
- Working with staff to prioritize project or office goals and consensus building
- Conducting technical and communication trainings
- Performing quality assurance and quality control reviews
- Environmental greening and sustainability practices
As a scientist, manager, and leader, I've been responsible for critical projects including the cleanup of Hunters Point Shipyard ($25M budget), leading and managing an office of 25 staff, and currently managing a $20M environmental program for U.C. Berkeley. In addition to providing technical support, I represent my clients at community meetings, where the topics discussed are often controversial and the participants can be highly emotional. My experience in mediating numerous groups has honed my ability to successfully interact with diverse stakeholders with sensitivity and a focus on progress.
