Council Member; City of Monrovia

Clarence grew up in Northeast Arkansas and moved to Southern California shortly after graduating from college to pursue a career in public service.

He is married to Angela and they have two children, Clarence II and Amber Nicole. Clarence II and Amber Nicole attends Monroe Elementary School in Monrovia.

Clarence received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (UAPB) and earned a Masters degree in Public Administration from California State University.

He is a dedicated public servant and has worked for Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services for the past 20 years. He is presently employed as a Contract Administrator with the Contract Management Division.

Clarence Shaw serves in the United States Army Reserves and is assigned to the 326th Financial Management Center as a Finance Officer. He previously served as Commanding Officer of the 806th Adjutant General Company during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003 + 2004). Clarence has 19 years of distinguished military service (4 years of active duty) and is the recipient of numerous awards, commendations, and medals including the Meritorious Service Medal.

Clarence thoroughly enjoys serving the Monrovia community as a member of the Board of Education. He is proud of the many accomplishments of the district and wants to continue and further the district's progress toward world-class schools for world-class students. Clarence values working with the Monrovia City Council, the business community, and other community-based organizations. His goal is to help improve the overall quality of life for all Monrovians.
