Reducing Our Dependence on Imported Fossil Fuels

By Joe Pitts

Candidate for US Representative; District 16

This information is provided by the candidate
America must move away from dirty, foreign fuels to cleaner fuels from home.
The availability of reasonably-priced energy is critical to our future prosperity. Gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and electricity are literally the fuels that power our economy. The energy we are dependent on today is too dirty, too expensive, and too often comes dangerous places. Some of the money we pay for gasoline may even be financing terrorism. America must become less dependent on fossil fuels and less dependent on imported fuels. The way to do this is to further develop clean alternative energy sources like wind, solar, natural gas, biomass, and waste incineration. I believe nuclear power must also be developed in a safe and responsible way. Until technology advances and these sources can be fully developed, we will remain largely dependent on fossil fuels. We must access the oil we have at home, and our abundant coal should be burned more cleanly.
