|
Steve Brown represents the latest generation in his family to place paramount importance on public service. The tradition of public service runs deep with Steve's family, most notably with his late aunt, State Representative Sue Shear. As a continuation of his family's service, Steve hopes to be elected State Representative for the area his late aunt served honorably for 26 years. In professional life, Steve answered the public service call by joining the Office of Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon. Since first joining the Attorney General's Office in 1998, he has handled a variety of consumer protection and criminal cases, putting criminals behind bars and saving taxpayers millions of dollars. Steve's assignments included being the lead prosecutor on the "No-Call Attack Team," tracking violators of the state's no-call statutes and ensuring unscrupulous vendors paid a hefty civil penalty for harassing citizens. He also investigated gas station price gouging following the September 11th attacks and helped create the Missouri Foundation for Health charity with settlement funds from errant insurance provider. Today, the Foundation has over $1 billion and provides health care to needy families in Eastern Missouri. When he resigned from the state in 2007 to run for public office, Steve was the Deputy Chief Counsel for the Eastern District of Missouri. Steve was born and raised in Missouri. He graduated from Ladue High School, got his undergraduate degree at Denison University in Ohio, and received his Juris Doctor from Washington University in St. Louis. While at law school, Steve met his future wife, Rebecca, a former assistant general counsel for Washington University, who currently serves as a career counselor and undergraduate adviser. The couple has been married for 11 years and makes their home in Clayton doting over their 3-year-old son Ben and new baby daughter Sarah. |
