The Bail Out Bill is a recipe for financial disaster.

By Steve Young

Candidate for United States Representative; District 48

This information is provided by the candidate
My Republican opponent voted twice for this upward redistribution of wealth.
I want my children and grandchildren to have the opportunity to pursue the American dream. Yet every day, America's economic train wreck [John Campbell (R-Irvine) claims leadership of as a member of the Congressional Financial Services Committee] piles up more debris and fatalities.

I WOULD HAVE VOTED NO ON THE BAILOUT BILL.

IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN A UPWARD REDISTRIBUTION OF WEALTH. RONALD REGAN TOLD THE STORY OF A WELFARE QUEEN PICKING UP HER WELFARE CHECKS IN A CADILLAC. I SEE WALL STREET WELFARE KINGS DRIVING THEIR ROLLS ROYCES TO PICK UP THEIR $700 BILLION WELFARE CHECKS. DOES CORPORATE WELFARE COME WITH FOOD STAMPS?

MY VOTE? NO, NO, NO, 700 BILLION TIMES, NO!

No one is telling how they propose to spend the money. No one is telling us how we will get the money back. All this bill has done is institutionalize the The "borrow and squander" policies of the last 8 years.

My five step economic program will restore broad-based prosperity and the prospect of a brighter future. It consists of:

1) Supporting education to create new technologies on which to base new manufacturing jobs, and to retrain America's workforce;
2) Passing legislation to level the international playing field for our businesses so that our manufacturing and technology jobs do not leave the country;
3) Amending the tax code to encourage savings such as ending taxes on interest income (Tax Savings for Savers);
4) Encouraging a culture of responsible consumption; and
5) Ending wasteful Washington spending so we can balance the Federal budget and eliminate the $6 trillion deficit.

Our economy will continue to founder until we reinvigorate and energize our middle class. I am running for Congress to ensure Washington, D.C., hears the voice of the hard-working residents of California's 48th District.
