Community As mayor I will continue providing leadership for economic growth and working closely with community leaders who believe family values, education and the quality of life makes Paso Robles the most distinguished city of the central coast. The nine years I served as Planning Commissioner of Paso Robles and the almost eight years served as your elected city councilman have provided me with the insight and knowledge necessary to lead the city to new economic heights, further the development of community program, provide for senior citizens and insure our children have a safe environment to experience their youth to its fullest enjoyment. Since my election to the City Council in late 2000; our population grew an average of 2.6% per year. During that same time period our commercial and industrial growth average was +/- 4.5%. Together these statistics indicate the city will continue to grow at a rate comparable to other California cities of similar size. Although growth in both categories improve annual tax revenues, it is important that accurate management and responsible guidelines for development are enforced so that our present residents and business owners do not incur negatively impacted from the process. In 2006 I voted to adopt an economic strategy plan that guarantees each proposed development project meet specific criteria based on four priorities: people, place, positioning and partnership. It is through this plan that leads me to ask the tough questions:
