- I am an advocate of "Smart Growth"
-
"Smart Growth" is the opposite of LA-style sprawl development, which depends on cheap gasoline, an infinite supply of cheap land and irresponsible environmental practices. "Smart Growth" by contrast is based on energy efficiency, alternate transportation and renewable resources, as explained below.
- Balancing the Budget
-
I am uniquely qualified to guide the city through the upcoming budget setting sessions. I am an advocate of fiscal responsibility and will be the voice of city residents on council.
- Binding Arbitration
-
I opposed the binding arbitration initiative when I was on the Council in 2000 because I feared it could deal a severe blow to the City Budget. However, since the voters passed it, I affirm their decision. I will put my mediation expertise to work to improve communication between the City and our fine police officers and firefighters.
