My priorities for the next four years include:
- Increasing programs to help students, particularly those who struggle. As Chair of the Board's Education Committee, I already am leading a closer relationship with the School District so that, together, we can support students before they reach college.
- Adopting a Sustainability Plan that reaches across both operational and educational arenas to reduce waste, create more healthy work environments, and offer high-quality educational programs for "green" jobs.
- Enhancing the College's health educational and health service delivery programs to enable students to have better health now and in the future so that they can stay in school and remain focused on their classes.
- Connecting City College to community-based organizations and students to service learning opportunities leading to greater civic engagement and to satisfying jobs within the nonprofit sector.
- Ensuring labor/management harmony through respectful collective bargaining, fair and rapid settlement of issues arising during contracts, and increasing opportunities for improving working conditions and professional development opportunities.
- Improving the Board's fiscal oversight over the general fund and bond funds, and delivering all bond projects on time and on budget.
- Developing policies to direct more contracts to local businesses to keep our local dollars in our community.
- Finally, and perhaps most importantly, selecting the next, permanent Chancellor to head City College who can guide the way to an even better City College.
