Political Philosophy for Donna R. Lind

Build the Town Center: As a retired police sergeant, I know responsible economic growth is vital to funding essential services Scotts Valley provides today. That's why the Town Center is my top priority. I've been working with the Chamber of Commerce and property owners to support our locally owned businesses and the Shop Local program. We need more of this. Promote Controlled Economic Development, Control Spending, No Tax Hikes: Scotts Valley is successful because of smartly controlled growth that minimizes impact on water resources and preserves our quality of life. I'll continue this balanced development that includes water conservation measures as part of the permit process, will keep us one of the safest cities in California and support schools, parks, roads, youth programs and a new dog park. Support Public Services & Schools: In this tough economy and with Measure C revenues ending, Scotts Valley's core services are at risk. As a retired police sergeant and 40-year city employee, I know how to stretch city resources efficiently and pursue grants for public safety and city programs. I have the experience to keep our services intact, won't raise taxes, will showcase local businesses and keep our tax dollars here. I support assigning a police officer at the high school and will ensure the DARE program and City's after-after school programs at Vine Hills School and Brook Knoll School are adequately funded. |
