Greetings to all my fellow citizens of Campbell! My name is David James Barclay III, and I am campaigning for your vote in our city council election on November 4, 2008. I am a life-long Campbell resident, and I have watched our beautiful city evolve over the last 21 years. Campbell has grown so much, and it keeps continuing to grow. I am running for city council of Campbell because i feel I have the knowledge and creativity to help Campbell continue to prosper for years to come.
I have been a voluteer in our community since the age of 12. Whether it was the Summer Concert Series, Sundown Cinema, The Prune Festival/ Boogie on the Bayou, or just helping the merchants at a First Friday, I made sure that I was there to serve our great city. Now I would like to put my knowledge of our city and its government to work in a more direct fashion.
I have been attending council and committee meetings for 3 years, and I have a great understanding of our municipal government and its proceedings. My pledge to the city of Campbell is to be the loudest possible voice for our community and its merchants. I will use my personal relationship with our citys business owners and work with the citizens to work for the better good of Campbell.
I would also like to just point out a small statistic. The last census taken in Campbell back in 2000 indicated that 28% of our residents were under the age of 18. Back in the 1970's and 1980's Campbell had a Youth Commission. This commission housed the youngest elected official and youngest mayor in United States history. I would like to try and bring this commission back so that we can include the vast youth presence in the citys government and infrastructure. I would be honored to have your vote in November and please call me at (408)218-7141 with any questions. Thank you.
