Commitment to Public Service

It is my personal philosophy that a good neighbor should strive to make her community a better place to live and work.

My first volunteer effort was the Hemet Public Library. I worked the Circulation Desk at our old Library every Saturday from noon until 3:00. Helping patrons encouraged me to apply for a open position on the Library Board. I spent the next 12 years as a Trustee and I am very proud of my work as a member and President of the Board. I was honored to be at the groundbreaking ceremony for our new facility and very, very excited to take part in the opening of the new Hemet Library just a few years ago. My work on behalf of the Library did not stop with a new building, I have continued to support and encourage community programming to bring our residents additional opportunities to increase knowledge, to be informed, and to be entertained. The current "Music at the Library" program is one I initiated almost three years ago. I was able to obtain the funding necessary to put on quality programming that would appeal to a wide variety of musical interests. Between 200 and 300 people attend the monthly concerts. I have helped with the Children's Summer Reading Program, supported the Friends bookstore, almost on a weekly basis, and my husband and I have contributed to the Hemet Library Foundation.
