Marin General Hospital is a valuable asset to Marin; Let's keep and improve it.
Marin General Hospital (MGH) is at the most crucial crossroads of its 56-year existence. Sutter management is leaving. It is now the task of the District Heathcare Board to put MGH on track toward a modern hospital that will serve its public the way it was supposed to. To do that we need a Board that will work together constructively to overcome huge problems. First and foremost is the Transition process, MGH going to a stand alone community hospital. This is underway. Next is to establish a governing-management system that can act effectively in the interest of the public, but remain out of the conflict of politics. Past experience at the Board level has shown the detriment of political squabbling: expensive lack of progress. Third: SB 1953, the California Hospital Seismic Upgrade Act of 1994, requires the raising of enough money to satisy seismic standards withing legal time limits, so that MGH can continue as a gem of a medical asset to Marin. Inherant in that plan should be the idea that future advances in medicine will come to be housed within MGH. We need a constructive Board to produce those results. I can help do that......
