Terri Crane Provides Change With UnderstandingBy Theresa "Terri" CraneCandidate for Board Member; Taft City School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Only seven months ago Taft City School District Trustee Les Clark stated at a public school board meeting that he had heard the voices of voters within our school district... that the people had expressed their desire to have a change of school board members. Terri Crane can offer "change with understanding."
In the spirit of disclosure on a ballot issue that applies to our kids and schools, I am happy to share my position: I am voting "Yes" on Proposition 8. I do not believe elementary teachers should discuss (or be legally mandated to teach) the subject of same gender marriage.
I believe that board members should strictly adhere to their agenda and not violate the rules of closed session conduct by unfairly discussing matters off the agenda and in secrecy.
In addition to my work experience as an educator, I am also a life member of Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society, and have earned the California School Boards Association Master of Boardsmanship award. I served on the school board from 1992-2000. I was also a member of the PTA and the school site council. I am a member of the Taft Sportsmen's Club and active in my church and community.
My husband Brian and I are the parents of Erin Crane, who also attended Taft City Schools and graduated from Taft High School and Taft College as we did. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in psychology with a minor in communications. We are pleased that she continues our family tradition of valuing education and has been accepted into the post-baccalaureate program for Teacher Education this winter
My filing for this board position provides you with a sufficient number of candidates for this elected office to have a contest. It is because of my love for our community and an interest in and devotion to our kids that you have a choice to put service for our children and their future first. I will appreciate one of your votes and consider it an honor to serve you. If you have any questions for me, I can be reached at 763-3746. Thank you. |
