VIOLENT CRIMEBy Courtland "Corky" BoozeCandidate for Council Member; City of Richmond | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Richmond is one of the most dangerous cities in the state of California.Since the inception of the Tent City Peace Movement, there has not been an effective intervention program implemented that has reduced crime, made residents feel safe on the streets and in their homes, or in the schools. The Tent City Peace movement was formed by Richmond Residents, and myself as a means of stopping the senseless shootings. Since it's inception there has been a reduction in shootings. My opinion is that the City needs to implement a concrete program that will be an extension of Tent City's actions. Any planning on the part of the City government must involve those residents who are considered the leadership of the Tent City Peace Movement. Regarding the make up of the City Council, my opinion is that it should embody persons who have the ability to communicate, motivate, and convince residents of troubled areas that they are needed to make a change within their neighborhoods. I have proven that I am the person who can follow through on a delicate function of that nature based upon what I have already demonstrated. My platform speaks to the actions I would take relative to these issues. |
